Overview |
 | Experience the granduer of a bygone ere - where you can take life a little slower. The embossed tin ceiling of the lobby looks down on a highly polished pine floor lavish with richly colored oriental rugs. Thirteen foot high walls reflect antique furnishings and artwork of the early 20th century. At the entrance, a newel post Cupid's lamp lights the way to the upstairs where leaded lamps and choice antique furniture recall the rich hospitality of a time long past. Awake to the smells of a award-winning 3-5 course breakfast served in the dining room by candle light while listening to soft music play. | | Carry's parlor is named in honor of Carry Nation's visit to Allerton in 1907 and was once the hotel's small parlor. It now offers a selection of gifts and antiques and is the tv/game/meeting room for overnight guests. | | Located 75 miles south of Des Moines, Iowa, this inn offers a quiet place to relax. The inn can also be rented for intimate weddings, retreats, meetings and special events, such as rehearsal dinners, anniversaries, showers, receptions and reunions. Area attractions include museums, local festivals, bike & hiking trails, public hunting and fishing lands, just to name a few. | | Hunters and Fisherman are welcome. Ask about special packages and group discounts. Families with well-behaved children over 5 are welcome. No pets: our cats, Matilda and Garfunkel, would be jealous. |
